Why holiday cakes?

Because it is the type of candy that is most consumed at parties, its name is always associated with the party.

The method is easy and simple and can be done by any man or woman, as long as the quantities, proportions and working method we will explain are met. Don’t be afraid and doubt if this is your first time making sweets.

First of all, we need to know that successful Eid cakes are characterized by three essential things, which are the wonderful taste, the pleasant aroma and the beautiful appearance. So we will take care of all of them.

Ingredients needed to make Eid cakes

  • One kilogram of flour (flour).
  • 600 grams of butter or 750 grams of butter.
  • Half a kilo of date or filling (dates).
  • A cup of milk or warm water, as desired.
  • spoon of sugar.
  • 150 grams of raw or toasted sesame.
  • Two tablespoons of yeast.
  • A teaspoon of cake aroma.

The working method

  • At first we roast the sesame in the pan if the sesame we have is raw, stirring constantly and stirring so as not to burn. The important thing is that it darkens and turns a little golden, and the sesame seeds begin to swell and the smell of toast appears. If we buy roasted sesame, we don’t need to roast it.
  • Put the toasted sesame on a cold plate and let it cool. And don’t leave it in the pan so that it doesn’t increase the roast due to the heat of the pan.
  • We start by preparing the dough by putting it in a bowl and pouring some hot water over it until it is soft.
  • When the roasted sesame has cooled, add three tablespoons to the dough and mix well.
  • Then we leave it a little so that it absorbs the water well, then we can take it and wrap it. And if you feel that the dough is hard when mixed with sesame, we can add a little hot water to increase its softness.
  • It is preferable to use a type of date paste that is good and tastes sweet.
  • Put three tablespoons of flour in a small bowl, add two tablespoons of yeast, and also add a tablespoon of sugar and mix well, then leave it and do not add it now because the temperature of obesity do not affect the yeast.
  • Put the rest of the flour in a large, clean bowl, add a teaspoon of cake aroma, then add a pinch of salt to the tip of a teaspoon, add all the roasted sesame and mix well the ingredients.
  • We completely melt the ghee or butter on the fire and after it melts completely we leave a small amount that we may need to increase the softness of the dough, then we pour the rest carefully and slowly over the flour from the large bowl and mix the ingredients. with the spoon and not with your hands because of the heat of the mixture.
  • We continue stirring for two minutes, until the mixture becomes a cohesive, fresh dough that can be taken by hand.
  • Then we start kneading this dough with our hands or with an electric mixer, and once we have finished kneading, we add the ingredients to the small bowl of the dough and continue kneading until the ingredients are well mixed.
  • Add half a cup of warm milk or warm water to the dough. Continue to knead vigorously until the dough is well combined. If the dough is firm, we can add a quarter cup of milk or warm water, depending on the type of flour. And of course we repeat the kneading well. At the end of kneading, the dough should be fully granular and stable.
  • We add the amount of ghee we left in the dough to soften it and give it a sweet smell.
  • Roll out the dough, cover it so it doesn’t dry out and leave it for a while.
  • We take a piece of dough and stretch it with our hands, then we put the dough in it, then we cover the dough so that the dough becomes a ball, then we engrave it on the face the way you want, and we repeat the process until that the whole amount is finished and put the balls in a clean tray.
  • Cover the tray for a period of time, about thirty minutes, until it ferments.
  • Once the dough has fermented, put it in the oven for a quarter of an hour, until it is cooked and golden.
  • We take it out of the oven and let it cool, then we put it on serving plates, being careful not to break it.
  • Sprinkle with fine sugar as desired and serve on holidays, feasts and occasions.
